Uniforms - Oh Yes

Have you ever noticed many profesions and jobs have uniforms? I'm not talking about uniforms like military or nurses. The pic on the right is a suit from Brooks Brothers. This is your typical Wall Street and major law firm uniform. It's grey, and for Brooks Brothers is very daring - it has a blue pinstripe! A suit like this one can be worn for years as it never goes out of style.

Of course color makes a difference. If you are very very high up on the ladder you wear a similar style in navy blue. If you are slightly lower on the ladder, once in a while you can wear olive green. If wearing olive green, you must wear cordovan color shoes, otherwise black shoes. Of course all shoes must be wingtips.

At neetings, no matter if you are a grey suit level, or the occassional olive green suit, if the meeting is with the navy suit level, you must wear navy also. It's one subtle equalizer.

Taje a walk around the financial or law firm area (probably the same area) in your city on a nice spring or fall day. You will see the uniform.
